Netflix has enjoyed dominating the lives of middle America and millennials alike for years, but now it’s facing conservative backlash from partisans who don’t like the high profile people who they are working with. This seems to the very first time Netflix has had to deal with any such backlash.
Earlier this month it was said that The Obamas would be making movies and TV series for the streaming service, now another member of his administration is heading to it’s board of directors former UN Ambassador Susan Rice. To conservatives she is an Obama lackey and a liar who maintained that the attack on September 11, 2012, on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was due to protests over a US-made YouTube video. One of the key instigators of the so-called Benghazi cover-up.
The irony that she would now be joining a video on-demand streaming service is not lost on them. Flooding twitter with #cancelnetflix these partisans are not happy with Netflix’s decision to hire her. Netflix insists that the reason she was hired is because, “For decades, she has tackled difficult, complex global issues with intelligence, integrity and insight and we look forward to benefiting from her experience and wisdom.”
