The Good Fight’s Audio Manipulation Software is Real

Adobe, the company behind Photoshop, among a number of other companies are working on audio manipulation software that is bound to take fake news to a whole new level.

Prominently parodied in the premiere episode of CBSAA’s Season 2 of The Good Fight, this software does exactly what you think it does. Makes a recording of your voice to say something that you didn’t.

The development of this software is both highly desired by political operatives and highly feared by security and defense people at the Pentagon. DARPA has a “media forensics” project aimed at developing the capability to automatically check images for accuracy. With world leaders already slowly manipulating the public by pushing fake stories or alternative facts, adding audio into the mix will only make things worse.

Massive misinformation campaigns are already out there touting fake news articles or fake tweets. What about audio recordings of terrorist attacks\crimes that never happened? Or your chosen candidate making crude comments that they never did? World leaders and others could also use the software for their advantage to get out of scandals, even as Maia learned in The Good Fight that it can mess with criminal cases.
