Rich in political concepts and world-building, N.K. Jemisin is one of the newest African American female science fiction writers on the market and it looks like she’s hitting the ground running. The TV show based on her franchise, is currently in early development at TNT, but it’s definitely a high profile concept that can run just as long, if not longer than William Brinkley’s 1998 post-apocalyptic thriller The Last Ship, which is currently starting it’s fourth season next week.
With three books in The Broken Earth series and the third just published TNT has plenty of source material to draw from.
