As the cable package becomes a fragmented streaming pile of mess, premium cable channels are getting political! Americans fed up by the old models of traditional news broadcasting which many say is purely infotainment and not real news. They are beginning to look elsewhere in younger more trusted brands, for political news.
Also, cable channels are turning into mere subscription services and are in the unique position to offer a new way to bring important issues to people. This is leaving the big networks behind, as they are failing to pull in new viewers. The only way they seem to know how is to hype up concocted stories or over blow scandals and replay them on repeat.
Americans are tired of it, and Pod Saves America’s news podcast experiment has proven successful. Since launching in January 2017, the podcast created by Ex-Obama aides, has already been downloaded more than 175 Million times.
Much like The Circus which is currently making plans for season 3, the series will follow the trio on the campaign trail as they meet with, “activists, candidates and people who are getting involved in politics for the first time,” across the country for an undetermined series of hour long specials.
I am assuming that Pod Saves America will lean a bit more left while The Circus has generally leaned more right. Still these two shows are a welcome deviation from the partisan cable channels that millennials are shedding like snakeskin.
Proving that, HBO and Showtime are more trusted brands than CNN or Fox News, in the age of Trump.
