Amazon Cancels Original Series; Look to Franchise the Future

Franchises are the future of Amazon. Amazon is all but cancelling it’s original slate of Television shows while seeking higher budget productions that appeal to a wider audience.

Cancelling it’s quirky comedy shows: One Mississippi, I Love Dick & Jean-Claude Van Johnson. As well as cancelling the pilot TV season.

Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and The Tick are all that remain at Amazon as it cleans up from the fallout of sexual assault allegations against various producers and executives.

As it readies it’s own Lord of the Rings TV Series, what Hollywood property is Amazon looking to buy next? Could it be Lionsgate? Or other franchises?
